Sitting on her bed in her dorm room Hermione just put down her favorite muggle book Pride & Prejudice, she laid on her stomach messing with a stray curl from her ponytail and tried to think of what to do next, there wasn’t a book that she had that she hadn’t read. She was a huge fan of Jane Austen considering how she found a lot of herself in the heroin of the stories, she rolled over and fell off of her bed, sighing she jumped up and looked at her small bookcase she picked up Persuasion by Jane Austen.
She picked it up and decided to go to the library, she could read in there and possibly see if there was anything else in there that could read that maybe she hadn’t yet. The library had already been picked apart by her but that doesn’t mean that she’s seen every book in there but she has seen a majority of them, She put on her blue no sleeved shirt and a light blue jacket with her jeans and slipped out of her dorm room, the Common Room was crowded but it was a normal thing.
Walking to the Library, Hermione nodded to Madame Pince and went to her normal reading chair on the bottom level of the Library. Pulling her feet up in the chair she got comfortable to read Persuasion.

Hermione looked up seeing a young girl leaning on a chair that near her, she squinted her eyes at the girl and she realized that she had never seen this girl before. Finally deciding to pay attention she looked around and realized that she knew no one in here. She hit her head remembering that she was no longer in her time but in the future, she woke up this morning forgetting that she wasn’t in 1996 but 2022. That room that she thought was dorm room was a part of a much larger room quite like the Head Boy and Girls’s room that she shared with Harry, Ron and Malfoy since they all slipped through time. Snape did explain and she felt like Crabbe and Goyle not remembering it.
The girl snapped her out of her moment and she looked at the book and nodded. She loved the book of course and she was a muggle born herself but the girl didn’t know that because Hermione didn’t look this way in the future… as far as she knew. She hadn’t seen herself and didn’t plan on it because it could alter the time space continuum. “Yes I do like muggle books and this isn’t a book for a laugh, it’s pleasurable and romantic” She said that with passion in her voice.

Hermione watched the girl carefully, she reminded her of someone from her own time but she couldn’t put her finger on who the person was. The girl in front of her also asked her name and Snape did warn them about telling people here who they really were, Hermione understood the consequences because it could alter the time space continuum and she didn’t want that. She knew the rules of time travel having done it all year her third year and since she was in her future, if anyone knew her name her grown self could be in a lot of trouble as well as her teenage self. Her mind quickly raced as she thought of a name “Watson, my name is Merie Watson” she smiled small at the girl hoping that she at least wouldn’t be recognizable. She didn’t know much about this time so she had to tread lightly now. “And your name?”

At first Hermione didn’t understand why the girl had giggled but when she brought up Sherlock Holmes Hermione laughed as well, she did love those books and Watson being Holms trusty sidekick maybe that was where she thought up Watson. The girl asked her if she was a Gryffindor and Hermione didn’t really know what to really answer or how to answer that question, technically she was still a Gryffindor but in this time she wouldn’t be in school right now… she had to think up something and quickly.
Davis, it was a nice unique name for a girl, it was kind of like that one kid she met one year over the summer in France named Ashley and he was a young man. She shrugged but she knew she had to give an answer to Davis because Davis didn’t seem the type to just let a question go unanswered, so Hermione ran her fingers through her hair and cleared her throat before speaking “No I don’t go to school here, I’m kind of just passing through and I found the Library and got caught up” She hoped that that was enough for an answer “Do you like it here Davis?”

Just okay? Hermione could remember just how it was back in her time, she loved it at this school but there are others who do not feel the same way she felt and plus this was a different generation from her own. Maybe things were different; Hermione’s been trying to stay hidden away from the students so she wasn’t sure on how much different it was.
Davis spoke of a massive tree… had to be the Whomping Willow. Yeah she’s been around that plenty of times and getting her ass kicked by it too, she thought of her third year and remembered how painful it was just to get inside the hole at the bottom of the trunk. And the lake… had to be the Black Lake… she remembered sitting on that rock just in front of it and read when it was the spring time and how she would watch the other students run in and out of the lake. She didn’t understand why people would swim in there but she had gotten over it after being in it her fourth year. She had to pretend that she didn’t know what Davis was talking about; the girl already looked like she was suspecting her. She held out her hand to Hermione “Um… are we going to this massive tree or to the lake? I’m not the best of friends with water” she stood up tucking the book in the bag she brought with her “And it’d be nice to have a tour of the school, I haven’t seen all of it yet”

Davis had insisted that they go, Hermione didn’t mind going on a tour of the school. Though she knew every nook and cranny of this place having discovered most of Hogwarts secrets back in her time but she was going to allow the girl to show her since she had to pretend that she was new here. Davis had slipped her arm through Hermione’s and pretty much dragged her out of the library.
Hermione raised her eyebrows at Davis with her comment, yeah she pretty much figured that one. Never trust a Slytherin or any student who wanted to show you the Whomping Willow, she definitely knew how badly the branches hurt thank goodness she didn’t break anything then.
She smiled brightly and started walking again and Hermione couldn’t help but to ask herself what the bloody hell did she get herself into? Davis then said that they were going to be great friends and Hermione sighed quietly and looked up at the sky, she had a story that went with her name when she thought of it but it might be hard to understand it though… she just had to make sure that it made sense and that there were no holes in it so no one could figure out who she was and where she came from. She hadn’t realized she stopped walking until Davis asked her if she was coming because she wanted to show her a tour, she nodded and caught back up “Yeah I’m totally ready for the tour and yeah of course I have a story. I’m an intern at the Ministry in the new Daily Prophet and I had read a lot old articles about the old headmaster Albus Dumbledore and I’m going to do a piece on Severus Snape and how the school is now that he is headmaster. Once you give me the tour and I find my notepad in my bag will you give me an interview?” She smiled at Davis while they were walking hoping her story was legible.

Well at least she bought it she thought to herself, Davis didn’t seem like the type of girl who would like to talk to a reporter, honestly she had no idea why she even picked that profession considering how Rita Skeeter was such an old bag that she didn’t want to be anything like that but considering how this was a new time… she could at least try it out. Maybe if she saw her older self she could convince her to become a writer or something. Davis started to say something about Dumbledore; she suddenly pushed Hermione into a random room, spelling it so no one could hear her speak. She wanted to take up for him but she had to pretend that she wasn’t alive during his reign
Dumbledork? That’s not even entirely nice… he was a great man, of course he made mistakes but he didn’t let Voldemort into the school. When Voldemort was a student here, Dumbledore was NOT the Headmaster and it had nothing to do with him and he even knew that something was wrong with Tom Riddle but she couldn’t say any of this. Not right now, she looked from searching through her bag for her pad while Davis continued to speak “Oh I read about a girl being possessed, a Weasley wasn’t she? Her father worked in the ministry if I read the archives right. And yes I had thought he did keep the school safe… how did he die? I read so many different accounts that I’m not sure of the truth” she looked up at the girl waiting for her answer but she allowed Davis to continue about what she knew or learned or whatever
That was true; back in her time Dumbledore was criticized so much that you would start to believe the rumors if you didn’t know him personally but she stood by him just like she did Harry though sometimes she didn’t understand why he kept things from them. Finding a random notepad in her bag and a quill she sat down at a desk and looked at Davis who was looking at her as well
Hermione laughed; of course Snape’s greasy hair didn’t get her. She never really understood Snape’s hatred towards her and friends, especially Harry, with him being Headmaster now and the way he hurried them to understand what happened when they arrived kind of changed her views on him but as far as she knew he was still a greasy snake. “My interest is strictly professional, my article will only go from Albus Dumbledore to Severus Snape and his greasy hair… is” she giggled “His business… what I mainly want to ask you is, if you have seen any pictures from Dumbledore’s time how has the school’s appearance changed since then?” It was a small question but it was still relevant… she guessed.

Hermione raised her eyebrows trying not to laugh, so Ronald had children and the family is still considered a bunch of crazy people and one of his children is a Slytherin. She could only imagine how Ron felt about that… wait, there were a lot of boys in the Weasley family so it may not have been Ron’s son and daughter, and she’d probably ask Snape later. No need to ask Davis or she might get suspicious. She got comfortable when Davis jumped on a desk and answered her question about what happened to Dumbledore, she knew what happened, she didn’t see it happen but Harry told her.
She shook her head, she had to show she didn’t know that she didn’t know what really happened and while Davis spoke she quickly wrote down her question on the notepad and she wrote word for word what Davis said. She had a lot of practice writing fast thanks to her how she did her homework. Yes, Snape was the murderer because Draco couldn’t do it like he was assigned to do, she shook her head remembering but acting like she couldn’t believe her ears. At least the story is still the same “Oh that’s horrible… and he’s the headmaster? I wonder how that happened. I mean wasn’t there a woman who was second in command to Dumbledore? Minvera something?” Professor McGonagall, she loved her, her favorite teacher and her favorite course, she honestly missed that woman but she supposed that she was dead now.
She remembered, her time. In the 1990s the students were happier until their sixth and seventh year, Hogwarts was always a comfort, and always the home that they wanted to come to when the summer and holidays were over. She honestly felt horrible for the generation today
Has she noticed? No she hasn’t, she barely been out of her room long enough to notice but the grounds were different. The school did have that chill that Davis talked about, you use to be able to walk through the halls and not be afraid of which student was against you or which student was following Voldemort or whether if he was coming or not. She knew that he was, mainly because of Harry but the feeling that the others didn’t kept the life in the school. She wrote listening to Davis feeling very… she didn’t know how she felt. “That’s just horrible; I guess sometimes you wish that you could have gone to school then since it feels different then what you heard about? I’m sorry that things aren’t the same way anymore” She wanted to touch her hand to reassure her, her mind was working with ideas now but she stayed her hand to keep it professional but she did pull one of her spare handkerchief’s from her bag and passed it to Davis when she saw her turn away to cry but she wasn’t going to call her out on it.
Now this was interesting, her hand kept going and she kept her eyes down. Davis was now talking about her and her friends. “Golden Trio” she remembered that name, everyone called them that sometimes out of spite. Vanished? The locket… they did vanish but not for the reasons Davis thought, it was their fault that the world was the way it was now, because they had travelled through time Harry could never defeat Voldemort and she and Ron couldn’t help him on his journey. She sighed quietly and ran a hand through her hair feeling very sick all of a sudden… it was their fault, Davis’s aunt said they left because they couldn’t do anything but that’s not true there was plenty they were doing and could have done it was just that bloody portkey. They had to get back or maybe… find their older selves and get in on their plotting and planning, finally looking up she put a curious look on her face “Oh yes, The Golden Trio, Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger right? I’ve read a lot about them and how Harry Potter was supposed to be crazy and a lot of rubbish… do we know where they are now? I would love to speak to them” she had a fierce look of her own, she had to find them or at least her older self and find out.

She took the handkerchief with a suspicious look on her face and Hermione smiled trying to look sincere, she was honestly feeling horrible and it wasn’t because she needed information or anything. She probably could have found this entire conversation out on her own but since she’s playing the part she might as well pretend. But it kind of stung when Davis said that she didn’t wish she was around then or that things were the same as they were when Hermione was “in school” because of all the betrayal and foolishness. She nodded writing this down kind of agreeing with her, at least these days no one is hiding, everyone does things out in the open unless it was their job to continue being “undercover.”
Then she wondered for a moment why Davis looked confused, her question she thought was clear enough. All she did was ask about the Golden Trio and she even named them, with all the press and bad publicity they had gotten they were surely to have be known these days. She just wanted to know about herself now, about Harry and Ron now… was it bad other than them being in hiding? she nodded hearing her own name spoken, her heart pounded against her chest as she held her quill steadily above the parchment.
Hermione WEASLEY??? What the bloody hell?? She almost stopped listening hearing one of her best friend’s last name as her own, she was married to a Weasley? She never thought that she would be married to Ronald… she wanted to ask about the marriage but then her talking about their kids started making her head spin. And not to mention half of their kids were Slytherins, she wrinkled her nose at the thought but quickly fixed her face and shaking wrote down the information just so can find out how to find herself. “Oh I probably won’t talk to them, and if I do it won’t be for a while. I need to get our conversational facts together first but thank you for the reference.” She jumped suddenly when Davis shouted that she would help her, she didn’t want to talk to her future children. She was too afraid to know. “Um… no that’s okay Davis. Not right now anyways, when I do decide I’ll let you know and you can help me out then but as of right now I’m okay.” She smiled and finished writing up her parchment, she made a mental note to talk to the boys… including Draco if needed and find themselves.
