The Smooth Years Jacqueline sat in the great hall, her nose buried in a book as she read. She tried to catch up on her charms but was finding it difficult. Charms were not her favourite as she never understood why she needed to know it. But there she was looking blackly into the book that lay in front of her looking at the words and pictures that seem to just sit mocking her to understand them. Reaching down she sighed as she closed the book. Turning to look out the window the trees were budding and crocuses were in flower soon the garden would be in full bloom her favourite time of year s everything was alive and every one was happy. She smiled to her self finding she slipped into her own thought as easy as slipping into her bed, witch is something she wanted to do, she had not slept right since things had changed and it was knocking her for six. “ Maybe if I get this page done I can sneak back to the room and grab some more sleep” she thought to her self opening the book once more and turning over to the next page Freezing Charm she sighed as she read, one simple 'Freezing Charm', will disable a Muggle burglar alarm. At this she chuckled to her self, but then sighed as she looked around the hall. She wasn’t sad just lonely even with every one around, what she needed was some one she could talk to girl to girl. But all the others were swooning over their boy friends witch she was not and she so did not mind. ((word count: 273 ))

Danielle woke up early, and went for a walk on the grounds. It was still dark when she excited the castle. Her sketch pad and charcoals were in her school bag, which she carried everywhere she went. It was something essential to her, she couldn’t imagine living without it. Danielle used her art to express herself, since she couldn’t do so with words. Taking a seat on her favorite spot, a rock at the edge of the lake, Danielle thought, and waited for the sunrise to come. She loved to see the sunrise over the lake. It was one of her favorite moments to sketch. The atmosphere was extremely peaceful. So peaceful it made her forget everything. The sun had completely risen a few minutes before she finished her drawing, but she had the breath taking sight etched in her brain.
The moment her drawing was complete, Danielle walked back into the castle. Her hair was messy, since she hadn’t brushed it when she woke up, but she didn’t care as long as she didn’t attract too much attention. After hearing her stomach growl, Danielle headed for the Great Hall to get some breakfast. She sat at the Ravenclaw table, two people away from Jaqueline Darkangel. Even though Danielle didn’t have any friends, and even though she couldn’t talk, it didn’t stop her from listening and knowing almost everyone in her house. She saw the girl studying something, and she seemed to have trouble with whatever it was. The frustration was evident on her face, or at least that’s what Danielle perceived from what she saw. The fellow Ravenclaw girl inspired Danielle to draw, and as the girl studied the book in front of her, Danielle studied her.
After drawing her for a while, Danielle was almost done with her sketch. She always found it harder to draw people than scenery, but she liked to try just the same. When she was done, Danielle scooted on the bench, until she was seated in front of Jaqueline Darkangel. She didn’t know what made her do it, but she pulled out a new notebook from her bag. It was her talking notebook, the one she used to communicate with people. She turned to a new page, wrote down What’s wrong? and passed the paper to the girl. ---------------------------------------------------- Word count: 386

Jacqueline watched a girl move from seat to seat till she sat in front of her even though she was intrigued buy why this raven claw had chose to sit in front of her. She could see she had long blond hair she had also caught out the corner of her eyes her drawing. Closing the book she watched as she passed her a piece of paper on she saw the words and she smiled “In one word charms” she said sighing and showing her the book ‘complete book or charms’ “I can not get the hang of them “she said “no matter what I do they backfire , I read up , I practice, then poof, I flunk , bottle it what ever you want to call it I get it wrong an I can’t figure out why” she lay her head on the book only for a moment before sitting up and looking at her “Your …Ow.. I’ll get it in the end.” She bit her lip as she tried to remember, then it came to her. ”Danielle “she said smiling “knew I’d get it.” She said grinning proud at the actual fact she had remembered.
She looked at Danielle’s sketch pad and reached into her own bag taking out her own she placed it in front of her, opening it “this is what I sketch “she said showing her a landscape, it was of the lake with the forest behind it , turning the page she showed her a picture of the charms teacher “yes all right I know I should be paying attention in class but its so boring and I know I would get it wrong any way “she said slipping her pad under the book she was trying to read “what about you , you doing ok here?” she asked knowing she was a sixth year, she looked t the book in front of her she really didn’t want to go back to revising. “The sun rise was beautiful this morning did you see?” she asked preferring to sit and talk to looking threw dusty old books and charms “do you have trouble with charms like I do?” she asked it was then she realized she had done all the talking “Ow , sorry , I must look foolish rambling on like that “

Ilithyia, with her bag slung over her shoulder, walked into the Great Hall swiftly. Her cheeks were flushed with frustration from her failed attempt to look over her notes in the common room; too many people trying to get her attention with stupid antics that simply distracted her. Though the Hall held a quite bit more than the Slytherins in the common room, she would at least be able to find an emptied space on her table to study in peace.
As soon as she managed to seek out a suitable location, Ilithyia let down her bag and set up her work station in one expeditious move. She tucked a dark, curled strand behind her ear before putting her glasses on. Ilithyia's calloused fingers reached in her leather bag, finding her quill at the bottom. Her eyebrow arched as she flipped a few pages in her Ancient Runes book in an attempt to pick up where she left off. Her eyes lit up as soon as she found her stopping point and dipped her quill in the ink.
Just as Ilithyia was about to scribble down more notes, her eyes wondered around the Hall aimlessly. She scoffed to herself when she noted an older student reading about charms. "Good Lord,"
she muttered to herself. "Still struggling with charms, are you?" she asked the golden haired girl, pursing her lips. Suddenly she realized the girl was in Ravenclaw and a small smirk tugged at the corner of her lips. "I thought most of you Ravenclaws were past struggling in school," she commented shrewdly then turned her attention back to her book. "You Talking" "You thinking" "Someone else talking"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Jacqueline looked up to see another girl enter the hall this time she just frounded "yeah well some of us Raven claws don't all have brains to cope" she said closing her book as she sat back to look at her "your in Slytherin right" she said as she slipped the book into her bag "I see your having trouble with Ancient Runes, that subject i am good at" she said trying to hide a smile as she closed her bag and placed it down beside her leg.
Brushing her hair from her face she wished some people would just not See the house she was in but the person she was and had become not the House she was in she was not like a real raven claw , she liked book but was not good at spells or casting them. she had hoped the clumsiness would wear off but it had not and she now wished she could do something about it.
